Jillian K. Waters

was born in Bogota, Colombia but spent her childhood in Japan & England where she studied acting and fell in love with theatre. Jillian received her BFA Cum Laude in Acting at Emerson College in Boston and her MFA in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School in NYC, where she is now a proud lifetime member of The Actors Studio.

 

Some of her favorite Undergraduate and Graduate credits include: Fabiana Aziza Cunningham in The Last Days of Judas Iscariot,  Ursula in Much Ado About Nothing, Maureen Peale in The Bluest Eye, Denise in Affections of an Alley Cat, Lois in February 14th and Jamie in Broken Bones. Her favorite Off Broadway credit includes, Two Days Till Dawn at the Gene Frankel Theatre, Emily Dickinson OUTERSPACE! at the Bushwick Starr Theatre, The Answer Killing Question: Buys A Crisis at the Crown Theatre, Blanca at The Actors Studio, and Marisol in Marisol with playwright José Rivera. Her favorite Los Angeles credit is Sex, Relationships and Sometimes Love at The Actors Studio, LA. She received her Shakespearean training at Oxford University in Oxford, UK at the RSC Midsummer Conservatory Program with The British American Drama Academy. 

She recently started her own production company Mariposa Productions LLC and is working on producing her first short film Gaining & Losing with Besties Make Movies LLC and Mariposa Productions LLC. This is her first film that she has acted, co-wrote and produced. Gaining and Losing wrapped filming, color correction, sound mixing and is picture locked. Jillian recently had her acting dreams come true as she was cast in her favorite play as MARISOL in Marisol by José Rivera with The The Denizens Theater Company. She has also recently accepted membership with The Denizens Theater Company and is thrilled to be part of their extraordinary team !

The theme for this season is Loyalty and our first show of the season is SNAPSHOTS, an evening of 10 minute plays on December 17th at 7pm. We hope you will join us.

WHERE? At The Playroom Theater at 151 W 46th Street, 8th floor in Manhattan between 6th and 7th Avenue.

 Mariposa Productions and Besties Make Movies are proud to announce Gaining & Losing is officially done with sound mixing and color correction. One step closer to film festival submissions!

Jillian has been working on this passion project for over 2 years with screenwriter Mariana Vily and now she is happy to announce that the film will be officially done very soon.

Gaining & Losing follows the story of Nina, a former prima ballerina who gives it all up and leaves the city to seek treatment for her life threatening eating disorder. Ready to redefine her career, she gathers her two best friends to celebrate a milestone. Mia, a support group friend, understands Nina on a personal level, having overcome similar struggles while Tara, Nina’s longtime best friend & fellow dancer is trying to cope with the changes in their friendship, while making sense of Nina’s new way of life. When Nina’s worlds collide, who will she keep alongside her on the road to recovery?

Jillian is excited to announce she has started her own production company Mariposa Productions LLC. She is interested in telling stories that affect people he is also interested in telling stories that can shed light on certain causes within her community. Her first project will tackle the subject matter of Eating Disorder recovery and is extremely personal for Jillian as an Anorexia survivor herself. She hopes to partner within her community and create healing through art and give voice to those so often silenced and ignored.
